Our next Evening Talk at South Hill Park is about a place many of you know well. Fraser Cottington, Chairman of Lavell’s Wetland Trust, will tell us about the highly successful transformation of two raw and open gravel extraction pits into Lavell’s and Lea Farm Lakes: truly beautiful settings of well managed mixed wetland habitat. They are set in about 46 acres to the north of the Dinton Pastures Country Park and now boast a rich biodiversity.
Fraser has been visiting Dinton Pastures since 1981 and has been a Trustee of Lavell’s Wetland Trust (and before that A Friend of Lavell’s Lake) going back to 2000. He’ll tell us about the early years, all that has happened since he joined the charity, and talk about many of the birds who call it home.
